I am still struggling to understand where in the world the month of November went. We are in the last month of 2017 and nearing the beginning of winter. How is this possible? Where has the year gone?
Although winter doesn’t “officially” begin until the 21st of December, in Ohio, the flu and cold season has been going on for over a month now and my family is feeling its effect. With the recent addition to our family, we have taken some extra precautions to keep our baby healthy. However, with all the extra hand washing and clothes layering, our little guy has still come down with a cold.
Listening to my baby cough and struggle to breathe through a stuffy nose breaks my heart. I feel helpless. It’s easy to see he is not feeling well yet there is little I can do to take away his pain. However, I have found a few cold weather products to help ease my little guy’s symptoms and keep him comfortable this winter.

One of my favorite new mommy must-haves is the NoseFrida by Fridababy. This little Swedish snotsucker is the most ingenious invention designed to alleviate a congested babe. Although it may look a little odd, this strangely satisfying boogie-sucker is my new favorite must have for a sick baby. Forget all the difficult aspirators and repeated tissue wiping, this little beauty is the bomb!
Check out this video from the Fridababy website for details on how the NoseFrida works.
Kinda gross I know, I know, but I promise you it has helped my baby breathe and saved us from some sleepless nights. Check out some of Fridababy’s other clever products here.
We found this natural cough syrup when Bodhi first came down with his cold. Zarbees was created by a father, and pediatrician, that could not find safe and chemical-free products to keep his whole family healthy. These products are all natural…(ie. I can pronounce them) and it tastes wonderful! Bonus…it is safe for the little ones and can be used from as early as 2 months old. Zarbees has a line of other products safe for baby that I have yet to try.

I am truly obsessed with this product. I found this company when I was researching ways to get my little guy to stay asleep at night. This company has both swaddles and sleep sacks that help mimic your touch. How does it work? The sacks are designed with a light weighted upper panel with a center that is additionally weighted to mimic the weight of your palm. In addition to the brilliant design, the material is super soft, the zipper is a two-way zipper for quick midnight diaper changes, and the snaps around the neck adjust to accommodate your growing baby. Also, this sack is a safe alternative to blankets during the cold winter months. We used this sack as a swaddle transition when Bodhi was 2 months old and it has worked like a dream for us.

The Bundleme is a winter cover designed to be compatible with all car seats, joggers and strollers. This cover allows for the safety straps to rest properly on the baby all while keeping the baby comfortable and warm. These covers are wind and weather resistant—perfect for our cold Midwest winters! Best of all they are machine washable, which is a must with my messy baby.

My little guy has the very dry skin this winter. To help combat those dry patches on his face, I recently purchased Babyganics lip & face balm. As a recurring user of their cream wash and daily lotion, I am excited to try this balm during these extra cold months on Bodhi’s super sensitive skin.
Finding the perfect sock hat to fit the tiniest of heads can be a challenge. I love this Bundle Me shearling hat from JJ Cole. It’s warm, soft and fits a newborn’s head which is so hard to find. As Bodhi has gotten a little bigger, he has also been wearing these adorable and affordable hats I found on Amazon. Just check out my guy wearing this beanie.
Note—they take a while to ship out but are great quality for the price!
